Rolling Backpacks
First of all, blog frequency will increase next week when I start the new job, I promise.
As most of you know, I attend classes at IU Southeast. Being in southern Indiana and all, there are plenty of stories I could tell about the various people in my classes, but I won't. Those kinds of various peoples are everywhere, no matter where you work or go to school. I do, however, want to talk about the people who insist on carrying their school items in a rolling backpack.
If you haven't seen them before, these things look exactly like a backpack, they even have straps so you can carry it on your back, but they also have wheels and an extending handle so said item can be pulled behind. Ok, so here's my problem with these: Our campus consists of 5 buildings and it only takes 4.5 minutes to walk from one side to the other, I'll allow six minutes if you're walking at a leisurely pace. I would expect to find these at larger campuses where there really are blocks and blocks between buildings.
Therefore, I see no reason that these fools take up more than their share of the sidewalk/walkways with their stupid bags! Folks, I carry a lot of books (last check 12), most of them are average thickness for a college text (about 250ish pages). And guess what, I don't feel like I have too far to walk to carry them on my back. Mind you, I don't always carry all of them, but a majority of the time I do. Yeah, it might get a little strenous from time to time, but I deal with it. The other thing is that these people usually walk in pairs thereby not allowing me to pass in a busy hallway. They also ALWAYS walk at a subnormal pace. Making my trip across campus more than 4.5 minutes which is irritating as I like to be punctual.
Holla if ya hear me!

Whenever I see somebody downtown with a rolling bag/suitcase/whatever, they look to me like they got lost in the airport and just kept walking.

I am so glad you posted this...A rolling backpack finch looks just like travel luggage.
I go to Ivy Tech and it is a one building college and the rolling backpacks are abundant. I thought everyone must be taking a trip to the airport after class but then I realized they are just lazy asses.

Some worthless info: "Many orthopaedic surgeons will tell parents to limit backpack weight to 20% of their body weight to prevent injuries." Do the rollybackpackers tend to be very skinny and little? Perhaps there orthopaedic surgeon suggested it?
